AAOMC Webinar: Impact of Orthokeratology OZD on Myopia Control Efficacy: From Research to Application

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is widely accepted as an effective intervention for slowing childhood myopia progression. However, many clinical assumptions about treatment mechanisms and lens design optimization remain based on anecdote or incomplete evidence. This course will critically examine common myths surrounding Ortho-K in myopia control—including treatment zone dynamics, optic zone diameter (OZD), centration, Jessen factor, and design precision. Participants will learn to separate fact from misconception, evaluate recent clinical studies, and apply evidence-based strategies when selecting lens parameters to maximize both safety and efficacy in myopia management.
